Public hearing and verdicts.

The TLA carries out different types of activities. The most relevant is the Public Hearing which is a public activity in which a series of procedures is applied to facilitate an ethical-legal and scientific-technological judgment of evidence that is presented by the complainants. The hearing is presided by an expert panel of judges and other notable personalities that have proven to be competent for the job.

The compliance of the due process is fundamental in this instance, which implies that those that are demanded in the conflict are informed in detail about the claim and orally and publicly invited to participate in the hearing.

The verdicts thus become ethical-political and scientific-technological instruments presenting rulings and recommendations formulated by an expert panel of judges whose observations and compliance result in the formulation of a solution to the conflict, or, if no solution is found, give evidence of the injustice that occurs in the analyzed cases. In cases where the defendants choose to resolve the issue, the verdict turns into a useful instrument to pressure and/or convince public institutions to take adequate measures and resolve the dispute.

Similarly, the tribunal’s verdict can be brought to the press so that the cases presented and the eventual resolutions made, can be diffused and become part of the public opinion.
