The event was designed to share experiences and knowledge about topics like water security, socio-environmental problems in El Salvador, and the implications of climate change.
The forum ‘Towards an ethics on water issues in economic production related policies in El Salvador’ took place on Wednesday 4 November 2009 in the Radison Hotel and Conference Centre, starting at 9:00 AM.

Water related problems include: hydro-electric projects (El Cimarrón – San José: 2000, El Chaparral – San José: 2004 y Sensunapán - 2008), open mining (Pacific Rim – México D.F.: 2006) and infrastructure works like the Proyecto Anillo Periférico and By Passes (San José: 2004). In its 2005 report, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) qualified El Salvador as the world’s most de-forested country and in reiterative opportunities, the agency presented warnings about expected problems in relation to access to drinking water in this country. |
