World-wide Alternative Water Forum

Geneva, Switzerland. 17th-21st of March 2005

Activity that congregated more than 200 water activists worldwide. In this event the social fights for the right to water access against the dynamics of privatization at a world-wide level were demonstrated.

The Central American Water Tribunal participated in the panel “Fight and Peace around the water in Latin America” along with expository of Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia who have experiences with the privatization of their water systems. It is emphasized that in the referendum in Uruguay was established that water is a communal property guaranteed by the Political Constitution.

The participation of the Tribunal showed the alternative scenes of conflict resolution associated with water and about the first hearing of the Latin American Water Tribunal to be held in Mexico D.F in March 2006.

The Tribunal participated in this event with the exhibition of the alternative scenes of justice, the regional and national experiences of judges and the foundations in which this instance is sustained
